The founder of Paris-based brand A.P.C., Jean Touitou, believed that quality goes hand-in-hand with simplicity. The brand’s aim: to create a fashion for everyone that was really accessible. The “Atelier de Production et de Création” first emerged with a menswear collection, and has established itself offering clothes that look simple, but that are in fact very elaborate, like its jackets and jeans.

Jean Touitou was born in Tunis in 1951, but raised in France from the age of 9. He worked for Kenzo after his studies, and helped Agnes B to launch her first store in New York in 1983, before going back to France and starting his own label : A.P.C. The company designs denim in a light, simple and discreet way. The success of the brand lies in simple but well-cut jeans, made out of special secret denim from Japan, and sold at an affordable price. No need, according to Touitou, for big advertising campaigns or fashion shows. A.P.C won the prestigious ANDAM fashion award in 1992. A.P.C. also offers a wide range of shirts, boots and coats...

A.P.C. men's clothing

A.P.C is now established worldwide, with 300 points of sale in Europe, Asia and the United States, It uses 300 people worldwide. According to the founder, Japan accounts for almost one third of the A.P.C. business, then France with 30 percent of the business, followed by the US with 20 percent, with a total turnover of €42 million in 2014. Aside from its complete men and women clothing and accessories line, the company also owns a recording studio and has produced more than 25 albums (Lili Boniche or Bill Laswell). It also prints fashionable t-shirts for new bands. Touitou also opened a private kindergarten school in 2008 : Ateliers de la Petite Enfance (A.P.E).
