Kenzo Takada, the founder of Kenzo, began within fashion world in Paris in 1964, but only started to be noticed in 1970, when he presented his amazing creations to fashion magazines. It was the painting of old clothing and the retouch of his own collection. In the same year, he opened a store called "Jungle Jap" where he sold retouched former uninteresting women clothing.
Through his amazing, funny, colorful and bold invention, Kenzo wanted to show "freedom, cheerfulness and generosity". He is the first brand inventor who dared to combine multicultural style, "Western tailoring and Eastern sarongs" for men and "Japanese cuts with Slavic embroidery" for women, which facilitated world appreciation for the brand.

Kenzo designs began to be shown in foreign big countries during the following years : in 1971, in the American Vogue, in 1972, at the Gare d'Orsay. In 1975, Kenzo presented his first collections in Tokyo, then in New York, in 1977. In 1978, his design was even appreciated for his amazing and colorful styles which made him known as the "Great White Designer". In 1979, Kenzo carried his collection show, in Zurich. Still eager to promote his brand, Kenzo launched men and children's wear jeans and other products in 1990. In 1993, Kenzo became part of LVMH and ended selling his fashion house to Luxury group in 1999. Currently, Kenzo label is presented in 270 outlets and its products are composed of women, men and children's ready-to-wear, active sportswear, fashion accessories, fine leather goods, perfume and home decoration.
